On November 3 to 6, 2016, Asia Economic Community Forum (AECF) was held in Incheon, South Korea. After the successful co-organization of AECF last year, our institute was the only co-organizer in China this year. On the morning of November 3, 2016, the meeting was officially started at the holiday inn of Inchon island, and professor Bin Sheng and professor Lihui Tian of Nankai University attended the plenary meeting and delivered speeches as two of the 10 guests.
In the first session, professor Lihui Tian speech on China's current economic situation and thought that our country economy enters the new normal, the economy can keep the medium growth through effective means, such as the supply side reform. But we need to guard against the rise of new trade protectionism. Professor Tian also discussed the proper world order after the second world war, and gave a favorable attack on Japanese scholar Gao Yuanming's questions about the South China Sea. In the second session, after the speech by the former south Korean labor minister, professor Bin Sheng, a well-known trade expert in China, discussed the situation of international trade and regional comprehensive economic partnership, and won high praise from the guests.
The 10 Sub-Forum followed by the conference discussed the process and development of Asian integration from different perspectives. In China Sub-Forum hosted by professor Tian, four scholars from Nankai University made statements about their research and discussed, covering the issues of marketization, trade problem, capital markets and macro policies in China.
The conference also set up a special field for young economic scholars, and the three young teachers and students of our school competed with the teachers and students of Seoul national university. Bin sheng, vice president of the graduate school of Nankai University and senior scholars professor Zhonghong Tian from Japan were invited to comment togerther and guide the research of young scholars from Institute of Finance and Development of Nankai University and Korea National University of Seoul.
At the closing ceremony, senior members of South Korea's three major political parties were present to discuss the current issues of North Korea and the coordinated development of the Asian economy. Later, in the closing speech, professor Tian pointed out that financial integration is a necessary part of the process of Asian economic integration.He thought that Japan, China and South Korea should cooperate closely to set up credit rating agencies in East Asia, set up the China-Japan-South Korea stock exchange, and gradually promote the financial integration of China, Japan South Korea and northeast Asia.. He called for cultural exchanges and economic complementarity between China and South Korea to create a new future for the world as a community of destiny.
It is reported, this meeting was jointly hosted by 11 units, including AECF Organizing Committee,Korea Institute of Northeast Asia, Institute of new economic thought,Emerging markets society,Japan Asia research association and the Institute of Finance and Development of Nankai University. The theme of this conference is Unification and the Asian Community, which aims to bring together professional scholars, economists and politicians to discuss how to achieve the integration of Asia from an economic and political point of view. This is the second year of our co-organization of AECF, which marks the rising of our academic level, embodies the international academia for our approval, and promotes the international image of out institute and even Nankai University. It has laid a solid foundation for the cultivation of high-quality international financial talents in nankai university and will help to form unique school-running characteristics.
